- :
- : Is it? Do you think the custom chip set has nothing to do with it? They
- : claim to be running AmigaOS 2.0+ on a 133Mhz PC without any custom chips
- : at 1/3 to 2/3 the speed of a 7Mhz A500. You can live with that sort of
- : speed (or slowness)?
-
- Why is so much attention given to the custom chips? They are not necessary
- for an Amiga emulator - for that matter they are not necessary in a real Amiga!
-
- My A2000 (40MHz 030) hardly uses the custom chips at all these days. Video
- is handled by the PicassoII (using a Cirrus Logic chipset found on many
- slightly older PC SVGA cards). Serial / Parallel I/O by my multiface III
- card. The only bit that still gets used is Paula for the sound!.
-
- I still consider my computer to be an Amiga even if I make no use of the
- custom chips for running 90% of my software.
-
- I am sure that alot of people interested in using the system as a serious
- platform would be very happy with a Draco system instead of an older and
- slower fully compatible "real" Amiga.....
